_____

To the tune of Deck the Halls.

Song for Fall
Tis the season we love pumpkins
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
When we think of country bumpkins
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)

Deck the fields with corn and beans
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
Squash and gourds are commonly seen
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
-----
Don bright yellow orange and red
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
Come the days we long for bed
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)

Wind and rain grow ever colder
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
Snow will come but in November
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
-----
Soup and blankets all surround us
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
Marvel at the changing forests
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)

Dark the days and long the nights
(pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pu-pumpkins)
We will treat till morning light

Sketch- watercolor experiments

Happy Tuesday!!!

I bring you my experiments from the weekend. A mixture of watercolor, pen and water, and some pixlr effects.

First up is ink with blue watercolor to highlight the front raven. I brushed over the birds with water and it created the cool shadows.

The woman's face I did the pen and water effect. I splurged on red, brown and black warercolors and used up the last of the blue to accent.

Black and white now because it looks cool. :)

Agh this one I can't decide if I like it or not. He looks creepy. I mean I wanted him to look a little sad and hard pressed, he just looks like the undead. O_o I like it, but I've got mixed feelings about it.

Based on one of my favorite characters in a recent book I read. I suppose it reflects my unhappiness towards what the author is doing to him.

Edited. Wooooo... :)

First Lines (story starters)

Who doesn't love messing with Siri? That's pretty much the only thing she's good for. ^_^
Today in drivers ed (last day Woooo!!!) I had some free time because I finished early. So I decided to come up with some "First Lines," what I could picture as being good openers for a story/book. I also dug up some first lines from other things I've done in the past.
I figured they would be acceptable for today's post which had to include writing of some kind.
Enjoy! :)
_____

-The color of the sky on the day we died... That's difficult to say, it was a sunset, and there's always more than one color in those, usually.

-Do you think joy is real? Or is it really just chemical interactions like the books say? I have proof that joy is real. But I can't tell you what it is, because nobody believes what they're told. You'll just have to listen.

-Once upon a time there was a river. The sun boiled it into roiling steam and captured its sound with the wind.

-Perhaps being the last person in the world has made me lonely and slightly paranoid.

-Children learn their ABC's and how to count to ten. I learned how to Shift.

-The lonely god tossed stars over the world.

-The shadows rose up and screeched.

-Pale faced warrior why do you laugh?

-A milennia ago, there was peace, a lifetime away, I ended it.

_____

In the room the voices resemble what ghosts in a cathedral must sound like. It must be what grey curtains of rain sound like.

Feet cross and shift on the streaked, hardwood floors.

“When is the event over?” Red hair tumbles over freckled shoulders.

“When the music stops.” The two women, one with red hair and the other black, move away.

From room to room the polished glasses clinking together sound.

Someone laughs.

A beautiful woman sits at the piano. Music dances its way out of the glowing instrument. It is awake. It is singing.

IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER
FROSTY WIND MADE MOAN
EARTH STOOD HARD AS IRON
WATER LIKE A STONE
IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER
LONG AGO

Inside the instrument she wanders. Faces with deep eyes sing to her.

“Play something cheerful now my dear.” A warm hand clasps her shoulder.

Out of the misty world she stumbles. She nods quickly and abruptly begins to play. Slowly falling back into her own heart where winter remains.

_____

And that's all for today. The scene at the end is something from a short story from awhile ago.I hope everyone is enjoying this glorious autumn weather. :)

Sketch- Divergent

Happy Tuesday everybody!

Today Veronica Roth's novel "Allegiant" was released. The final book in her "Divergent" trilogy. They're working on a the movie right now set to release sometimes early-ish next year and so far I have high hopes for the movie. :D

The sketch for today would probably make more sense if you have read the books, but I hope you still like it even if you can't appreciate its full meaning.

Unfortunately I won't be able to read "Allegiant" for a couple weeks, but it's ordered and I dearly hope it's as engaging as the previous two.

Hobbit- Misty Mountains Cold

Look I got cool stuff from Barnes and Noble! Aka the happy place. :D

It's hard to see in the pic, but I got Thorin and Gandalf holographic bookmarks with Thorins key and Gandalf's staff as PENS! <3

And the House of Hades which I've finished, but that a whole'nother realm of trouble to get into.

Today I didn't have time to get something written up for writing, instead, enjoy this beautiful poem from Tolkien's The Hobbit. :)

I do not own the amazing artwork. I thought it was pretty awesome though and worth sharing.

You still get writing and art, just not mine.

Also, here's a couple links to some beautiful music inspired by Tolkien and Peter Jackson's films.

http://youtu.be/F2CsBqwcL1c - dubstep misty mountains cold

http://youtu.be/GsbzPlrfgyo - Neil Finn's song of the lonely mountain (the ending credits always make me blurry eyed)

Anyways, hope everypony is having a beautiful week, cheers! I just wrote this up, I think I'm half asleep. :P

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold.

The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.

On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.

Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold; where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.

The pines were roaring on the height,
The wind was moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.

The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
The dragon's ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.

The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.

Far over the misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away, ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!”

Sketch- Seto Kaiba

Sketchy Tuesday! :)

Today we have Seto Kaiba, a character from the anime show Yu-Gi-Oh! The original series will always be the best, but I enjoyed GX also. Seto was always cool, one of the primary antagonists (and occasional ally) of the series.

Marker, colored with prismacolor pencils.

I've not had much practice drawing anime or cartoon style, but oftentimes its very relaxing. :D

What Comes Before - a poem

Breath of Winter?
Original design hand drawn on computer and edited in Pixlr

Tis time for the Thursday/Friday post!

The picture above was originally black and white with her breathing green. Thus "Breath of Winter?" But as is my habit, I played with it, and here's the sepia colored version.

What Comes Before -2011
They stood before me in a row,
Cloaked in terror, joy and snow,
One, his face was plump and cheery,
Another his hands held gray poverty,
A woman had a gown of water and air,
And I saw a girl with white flowers in her hair.
Then I saw a man with eyes full of tears.
And a man with his back pressed by years.
They stood with an ethereal glow.
One at a time I watched them go.
But three stayed and kissed my head.
Each was clothed in a fresh blood red.
The first held a cup filled with thin bread,
The second wore a cross of heavy lead and in his cup he held scarlet wine.
The third’s cup held water and a scriven line,

Then, a last one arrived unheard,
And he parted swiftly without a word.

In short, this is me worrying not about dying, but about how I will die.

Sketch- magical beings

Heyloeth guys,

It's sketchy Tuesday. While watching The Hobbit (again, yes) I worked on a couple pen sketches which I colored with Prismacolor pencils.

Freehand. I used reference photos for their poses. Their arms and hands are definitely strange, but I still like these little pieces. :)

Anthem Strings- poem

acrylic painting digitally edited in Pixlr

It is time for the Thursday/Friday post!

Today is a poem. Doomsday and music smashed together.

Anthem Strings
Cut down, cut up
Gleaming paths that soon erupt
Cut up, cut down
Plucking strings that make no sound

Falling stars are silver strings
They rain down for serfs and kings
Now the basses singe the ground
They never ask the why or how

Switch lies, switch lays
Swung around within the haze
Switch lays, switch lies
Wood winds dim chaotic skies

Blow the trumpets this is our doom
Raise the harps and cloak the moon
Crush the sun by pounding drums
This is our brilliant anthem

Sketch- Staff/Dragons

I played with the staff... I like it better this way! :)

It's that It's that happy time of the week where I share a sketch/s. :D

Today we have a staff that was inspired by Radagast's staff as portrayed in The Hobbit. And a couple of dragons just because dragons are cool.

The surge of fantasy stuff is probably due to the new Hobbit trailer that was released today. I have no words to properly express my happiness.

ASDNWOIERHGNWOIEFNPQWWEVEVSZXCWOEIFHPIN. < That's how happy I am. :D

PS... Happy October everyone. It's now officially Autumn in the eyes of my family.

PPS... In respect to the emotionally compromised John Watson, we will do our very best to refrain from saying the word "Fall."
